I'm running for the PSC because it has become apparent to me that Montana needs a PSC commissioner that puts Montana ratepayers before party. I don't have an agenda or an axe to grind and will be an unbiased representative that will work for both the ratepayer and the utility investor to make equitable decisions. I want to see utilities and the PSC work together to ensure cheaper energy, reduce regulation where possible, promote competition to invigorate innovation, and plan for a robust power grid and create a stable energy market that is ready for tomorrows energy needs.
I have the experience, education, and character to excel at being the ratepayers representative on the PSC. My goals on the PSC are to help mediate disputes between the PSC and utilities so they don't end up going to costly litigation, because ratepayers lose every time the PSC ends up in court because they have to pay both sets of lawyers. I want to ensure that alternative energy producers are treated fairly but not at the expense of the ratepayers.
I am adamant that telephone and electric cooperatives keep control at the local co-op board level and the PSC does not become involved in their operations.
I believe that this core set of goals and values makes me the best choice for PSC commissioner.
